Dear Community,
Today marks a groundbreaking moment for our community. We're thrilled to unveil "The GRID 2.0" - a comprehensive, community-led blueprint to decarbonize Sunset Park. Years in the making, this visionary document crystallizes the hopes, insights, and aspirations of our neighborhood, weaving them into an operational just transition. Together, we're re-imaging our energy future, prioritizing resilience, and ensuring that our local environment thrives for generations to come. Dive into our transformative plan and join us in this green revolution!
Last but never least, our profound gratitude goes out to every community member, the dedicated staff , advisors, coalition and alliance partners and generous funders. This is not the manifestation of a singular idea but the collective effort of a community.
The legacy of our industrial waterfront community is deeply intertwined with the scars of environmental racism - a painful legacy of toxic exposures, and extractive industrial practices. But The GRID 2.0 marks a pivotal shift. It is more than just a plan; it is our path away from the harms of the past and a journey towards what green industrialization could and should be. In Sunset Park, we're not just observers of climate change; we're on the frontlines, reclaiming our industrial spaces for green manufacturing, fostering community wealth, spearheading renewable climate energy solutions, and making a local regional impact.

climate Justice youth Summit
The Climate Justice Youth Summit is the largest gathering of its kind in the United States. Hundreds of young people of color gather to learn about climate justice and just transitions through an innovative agenda that is entirely developed and implemented by youth leaders. Scenes from the 2019 CJYS were shot by Rae Breaux and Destiny Mata and other organizers.
